After being diagnosed with PTSD, David went on his own healing journey thanks in large part due to a core group of people who supported him along the way. On the other side of this journey he founded Grow2GetherCoaching.
Prior to becoming an ICF Certified Coach, David was a High School Baseball Coach, Teacher, Instructional Coach, and Administrator for 16 years. In 2012, his team won the Maryland 2A State Championship and was featured in the Sports Illustrated Article, “Mourning Glory” by Chris Ballard", for the tragedy and adversity they had overcome. As a baseball coach he was named the 2012 Maryland State Coach of the Year and the 2012 ABCA Regional Coach of the Year along with many other local awards and recognitions.
David is the host of the Podcast Beyond the Darkness: Living with PTSD, where he shares his own personal Mental Health journey, interviews experts in the Mental Health Field, and creates a space for others to share their own stories of hope and healing. His podcast has been described as “raw, real, and honest” as it sheds light on the realities that individuals with Mental Health challenges face, while providing guidance and hope for people to go “Beyond the Darkness”.
David has presented at over 50 conferences all throughout the United States. Topics have included, but are not limited to, Supporting the Unique Mental Health Needs of Gifted Individuals, Understanding Trauma in the Classroom, and Processes for Supporting Teachers in an Era of Burnout.
David lives with his wife, Erica, in Western Maryland. He is an avid golfer and weightlifter, lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Orioles, and most importantly a #GirlDad to three beautiful girls.
